THE ROLE The Sourcing/Commodity Specialist will help Haydon acquire its commodities in the most efficient and cost-effective ways possible. Reporting the VP Global Procurement, the Sourcing/Commodity Specialist will focus on building relationships with product suppliers, negotiating deals, drafting contracts [with support from Legal as needed], and evaluating supplier performance on an ongoing basis. The goal of this position is to maximize Haydon's profits while ensuring the company works only with reliable supplier partners that produce high-quality products and services. Relationship management is an important part of this position so the ability to establish and cultivate strong connections with existing and new partners, suppliers, internal stakeholders, and customers, is crucial.
RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

• Research and source suppliers and maintain long-lasting relationships with them as well as existing suppliers.
• Establish a continuous strategic supplier evaluation cycle to ensure that suppliers always meet or exceed Haydon's expectations.
• Prepare and submit a request for proposal (RFP) to suppliers and negotiate price, quantity, and delivery schedule(s).
• Assess quotes and compile detailed assessments of cost breakdowns and contribute to supplier selection based on quote comparisons.
• Maintain all relevant documentation for each supplier (NDA, Master Supplier Agreement, etc.) and ensure that all contracts relating to product sourcing contain all details of the negotiation.
• Provide solutions and recommendations to improve company spending and outsourcing of Haydon's Steel and Hardware categories (raw and finished products).
• Help implement inventory optimization strategies at Haydon including Plan For Every Part (PFEP).
• Work cross-functionally with peers and executives to drive strategic partnerships.
• Evaluate and recommend a Procurement methodology/approach/operating model for Haydon.
• Plan and execute sustainable Supply Base Optimization processes (sourcing savings).

  THE CANDIDATE
  Professional Qualifications
  • 5+ years' experience in Strategic/Category Sourcing, Commodity Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, or comparable roles
  • Proven experience sourcing within the steel industry
  • Comfortable using ERP and vendor management software
  • Experience in supplier strategy development and execution
  • Demonstrated skills and capabilities negotiating with top-tier suppliers
  • Strong communication skills combined with ability to manage and influence stakeholders at different levels of the organization
