Sr. Hardware Engineer (Wayne, New Jersey)
Client, a state-of-the-art manufacture of electron microscopy equipment, is currently hiring a Lead Hardware Engineer, Direct Hire. They take the most powerful microscopy on earth and make it work even harder for clients!
Job Overview:
This position joins a world-class high-speed camera development team and is responsible for the design and development of new camera and accessory products. This position includes the design of high-speed digital electronic circuitry, so the candidate must have proven experience with embedded CPUs, RAM, high-speed serial communication, and video interfaces, as well as a strong background in FPGA design with VHDL/Verilog. Demonstrated experience with embedded Linux is a plus. The candidate will also collaborate closely with mechanical engineers to ensure optimal packaging and cooling.
An ideal candidate will also have experience as a Camera System Engineer that is familiar with the specification, design and characterization of high-speed CMOS Image Sensors and supporting electronics, an ideal candidate should also demonstrate experience in root cause analysis of problems, as well as design for manufacturability and test. Qualified individuals may lead a small team of other technical professionals, so the candidate should be a proven self-starter with demonstrated leadership abilities.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Designs leading-edge FPGA and HW solutions that contribute to our roadmap.
Stays current with new sensor, camera, FPGA, memory and high-speed digital imaging system technologies.
Balances cost with technology to create optimal market-leading solutions for realization of our technical roadmap.
Assists in root-cause diagnosis and solutions to support Continual Improvement and Customer Satisfaction.
Assists in sustaining engineering efforts for our active products.
Required knowledge and skills:
10+ years digital design experience working in a fast-paced technological environment.
Experience with relevant high-speed digital technologies.
PADS Schematic Capture and Layout experience.
FPGA design experience using VHDL/Verilog.
Excellent technical judgment and decision making skills.
Dependable, driven, teachable person with good work ethic.
Recognizes speed of execution as a competitive advantage, and thus makes decisions and takes risks to support the rapid development of products and solutions.
Team player who desires working in a dynamic environment where effective team concepts are valued and practiced.
Education:
B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering. M.S. Engineering degree or equivalent a plus.
Desirable Skills:
Camera system design and CMOS image sensor specification and experience is a plus.
Demonstrated experience with embedded Linux is a plus.
Experience with high-speed machine vision interfaces such as CoaxPress (CXP) a plus.
Experience with switching and linear regulators and power supplies is a plus.
Hybrid work from home/in office schedule is allowed, and flexible work hours.
