Registered Nurse (RN) | Operating Room Location: New York City, NY Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,957 per week Shift Information: 3 days Contract Duration: 16 Weeks Start Date: 2/9/2026 About the Position Job Title: Operating Room Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 16 weeks Shift: 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM Hours per Shift: 11.5 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience; 2 years of medical operating room experience preferred License: New York State RN License Certifications: BLS, NBSTA for CST, NA, Heartsaver Must-Have: - 2 years of medical operating room experience - Minimum 2 years RN experience - 1 year travel experience for travel positions, not required for per diem positions - Epic experience highly preferred Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse. The nurse provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others. The nurse delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care. This is done through the application of the nursing process based upon theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards. The nurse assesses and evaluates patient care needs and applies critical thinking skills in patient care management. Relevant assessment and intervention skills are integrated in the delivery of nursing care. The nurse collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care. Prioritization of all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care is essential. Delegation to others as appropriate is also part of the role. Patient and caregiver education is important, anticipating needs and readiness to learn about their plan of care, transition of care, promotion of health, and prevention of disease. Effective communication with patients, family, and all members of the interdisciplinary patient care team is required. Assignment management is conducted within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing. The nurse demonstrates effective allocation of material resources. Role modeling the tenets of Relationship Centered Care through various facilitation actions is expected. Consideration of patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge is intrinsic to all aspects of care. Establishing and maintaining a therapeutic relationship with patients and families is a core responsibility. Evidence-based practices are employed to enhance understanding of patients' perceptions of care. The nurse initiates service recovery for patients and families who have concerns, escalating as needed. Caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening are demonstrated through dialogue, body language, and actions. Support for staff in utilizing evidence-based practices to improve understanding of patients' perceptions of care is encouraged. Conducting purposeful hourly rounding addresses key patient needs. Safe and efficient patient-centered care is practiced, with identification of barriers and opportunities for improvement. Clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served are demonstrated. Process improvement strategies based on institutional, evidence-based practices are implemented. Engagement in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes is encouraged. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects is essential. Contribution to quality and safety practices, along with compliance measures, is expected. Principles of high reliability are implemented to identify and avoid high-risk behaviors to ensure patient safety. Potential safety hazards or gaps from best practice should be escalated following established protocols. Utilization of institutional information technology for documentation supports quality and performance improvement initiatives. Charge nurse duties may be performed as assigned. Coordination with management is necessary to ensure supplies are appropriately utilized and inventory is sufficient for patient care. Material or staffing resource deficits should be escalated as necessary. Patient-focused and cost-effective approaches to care are demonstrated. Thorough and accurate documentation is required in compliance with standards. Facilitation of patient throughput on a shift basis is part of the responsibilities. Contributing to a supportive environment for clinical colleagues, patients, their families, and members of the healthcare team is important. Advancement of clinical competence in nursing practice is encouraged. A professional image is projected to colleagues, demonstrating caring, respect, compassion, and empathy. Ethical principles are incorporated into decision-making for patients and families. Encouragement of a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, lifelong learning, and innovation is expected. Knowledge and skills relevant to the role, patient population, and clinical specialty should be acquired.
