The Nest at Greenfield Hill in Fairfield, CT is seeking a full-time Chef for its progressive food program. We serve children (one through six years old) organic, local and whole food daily, Monday through Friday. No nights, no weekends!! The Chef is responsible for all aspects of the kitchen/cooking and will be responsible for: menu planning, catering special events, service, production, ordering, sanitation, and financial performance. The Chef must love young children and have a passion for the food that they put into their bodies. The ideal candidate would have abundant nutritional and wellness knowledge, especially associated with children. In addition, this employee will also have great skills: people, planning, organizational, computer, and customer service. The best candidate will have strong culinary abilities; we do scratch batch cooking and baking using local ingredients, including those from our garden. Learn more about our dynamic schools at: www.AlphabetAcademyCT.com, and What you will do: create cycle menus prepare lunch and 2 snacks, daily manage ordering and inventory mentor and train kitchen staff communicate clearly, professionally and effectively promote and contribute to a positive team environment What you need: at least 3 years of prior food service management experience must be SERV Safe certified knowledgeable in whole, healthy food with no short cuts energetic demeanor, team player strong work ethic and integrity timely responses to communication catering experience, a plus proficiency with computers culinary degree preferred strong knife skills Join our dynamic team to empower parents and their children to eat and prepare whole, real food every day.
