Job Description:

The Sr. Database Administrator will be responsible for playing an active role in designing, developing, delivering and supporting the SQL/Oracle environment to meet the Valley National Bank Business requirements. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Day to day management of all aspects of the databases (SQL/Oracle) as it relates to the application, interfaces and integrations.
• Provides production support as needed.
• Perform various DBA tasks such as installations, configurations, data purges and database implementations.
• Upgrade, maintain, develop and enhance the SQL Server Environment.
• Maintain accurate and current documentation of SQL/Data warehousing technology installation settings and specifications.
• Keep daily problems logs and files periodic status reports.
• Performs application metering including database size, memory usage, allocating resources to applications.
• Improve the availability, reliability & stability of all areas and components of the SQL Environment by establishing and executing best practices.
• Ensure technical designs are solid and support the delivery of solutions that meet the need and are easily supportable while complying with audit and regulatory guidelines.
• Write and manage custom SQL queries for database analysis.
• Create and maintain data storage plan for backup and retention. Ensure that a viable database is always available off-site.
• Participates in Disaster Recovery tests to validate the database recovery procedures.
