Job Overview

To assess the nutritional needs of patients using ADIME documentation: provide quality customized nutritional care and education and monitor response to nutrition therapy as appropriate to the age of the population served (i.e. child, adolescent, adult and geriatric), referred by physicians. Patients may be seen for diabetes self-management, gestational education, pregnancy, weight loss, pre and post bariatric surgery, and other nutrition related diagnoses. Provides individual or group nutrition/diabetes education to patients and family members on appropriate food selections and eating behaviors to accomplish patient's goals. Assists in maintaining accreditation of the Diabetes Program by the American Diabetes Association. As a Diabetes Educator or Non-CDE status, must be prepared to provide clients with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage their diabetes and provide all aspects of Diabetes Self-Management Education. Must be able to work flexible hours, including intermittent evenings to accommodate client's needs, and classes along with support groups. Occasional weekend outreaches are required.


  • Work requires knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nutritional Science or closely related field.
  • Registered Dietitian license required. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) preferred.
  • If non-CDE, must maintain current requirements for the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and must obtain 15 CEU's (Continuing Education Credits) in Diabetes within 4 months of hire as we are a Recognized Education Program for the ADA.
  • Work requires the analytical ability to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems
