William Paterson University invites applications for Adjunct Faculty within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (COHSS), Department of Languages and Cultures.

Applicants will be contacted when and if there is an immediate need or on an exploratory basis.

Courses in this department generally taught by adjunct professors include, but are not limited to:

  • Basic and/or Intermediate French

  • Basic and/or Intermediate Arabic

  • Basic and/or Intermediate Italian

Department overview:

The Department of Language and Cultures is committed to preparing students to respond to the growing demand for employees who can function in a multi-cultural, muti-lingual global and international environment. A BA degree from William Paterson gives students that competency, while a Med degree and the various associated certifications prepare graduates to become teachers in a high demand profession in the State of New Jersey.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Using the course outline as a guide, develop relevant syllabi in order to deploy course content, objectives, and methods of student assessment for up to six (6) credits per semester in assigned undergraduate or MEd course(s).
  • Contribute to student success by providing consistent and effective support and guidance through role modeling and mentoring


Required qualifications:

  • Earned Master's degree in French, Arabic and/or Italian

Preferred qualifications:

  • One or more years teaching in higher education

  • Ability to interact with others in a positive manner
  • Capacity to fulfill professional responsibilities with a strong sense of moral duty and obligation to the work at hand
