Position Description

This transformation is a key accelerator for the bank's business strategy, increasing our speed and ability to create compelling digital experiences for our customers. We are utilizing both modern and relevant architecture in addition to current software design and engineering approaches to become a world leader in digital banking experiences.
The Messaging Lead Engineer is a key role in defining and enabling the messaging systems that will make the future Bank work.

This role must be located at one of the following locations: Wayne, NJ

Your future duties and responsibilities
Candidate will be a member of a newly forming Product and Platform engineering team. This person and colleagues will be responsible for providing a robust and scalable eventing platform that supports many aspects of the operation of the Bank (ranging from mission-critical banking message flows to data sinks and reporting requirements).
The person will define eventing patterns and blueprints; defining how and when we utilize various messaging patterns (streaming, observer, pub/sub, etc.)

Responsibilities include,
• Design and build the underlying platform capability that provides support for operating an event drive architecture at scale
• Work with EA and architects on designing and managing the message models
• Create the blueprint's, patterns, and reusable code fragments for teams to rapidly onboard eventing solutions that are
o Highly scalable
o Reusable
o Maintainable
o Supportable
• Mentor and support other teams in their adoption of eventing paradigms and reactive architecture
o Promoting and supporting a federated development model (closed open-source) for the production and consumption of events
o While ensuring that underlying principles/patterns and guardrails are defined and policed to drive a coherent eventing approach across the organization.
• Provide proposals and suggestions for the tooling choices to help manage a large and complex messaging estate

Team membership responsibilities
• Evangelize the event driven architecture
• Champion knowledge sharing.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Required
o Proficient in software engineering writing code in C#, Go, Java, .Net, C++, or similar programming languages.
o Experience in working as an engineer in environments that have adopted eventing, reactive, and streaming architecture
o Proficient with full software lifecycle, tooling, and processes within an Agile software environment
o Hands-on experience with cloud environments and cloud-native approaches to solving problems
• Preferred: Prior knowledge and experience in a Financial Service industry in any of the following business areas:
o Retail Bank
o Commercial Bank
o Payments
o Insurance
o FinTech
o InsurTech

Skill Set/Years of Experience/Proficiency Level
• Detailed knowledge of integration patterns
• Hands-on experience with designing and implementing event-based integration, utilizing tools such as
o Kafka / Kafka Streams
o Apache Fink
o Azure Service Bus, Azure Storage Queues, Azure Event Grid
• Good knowledge of serverless compute (functions) and the benefits of combining eventing patterns with a microservices architecture

• Good understanding of the tooling required to operate an event-based infrastructure and may have experience with tools such as
o Azure App Insights
o Log Analytics
o Azure Monitor
• Understand the challenges/benefits and pitfalls with an eventually consistent architectural design

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

Est. Salary Range (Colorado Only): $84,000-$145,000*
